The food here is tasty and all, but for our taste salt and pepper shakers on the table are not redundant. But you can do without them if ordered to intentionally bland Mote (garnish to soups of corn) and patakones (fried chunks of savory bananas) any of the local sauces, sufficiently sharp and spicy taste. Speaking of sauces if you want to know what the highlight of local sauces, try the chili sauce wood tomatoes, flavored with garlic and chilli.

What is necessary to try, you’ve eaten there in this blessed country? Start with soup …! Do not be surprised, because you train your body to the unusual menu, and what could be more delight to the stomach than a good soup like Locri de Papas (prepared by 500-year-old recipe from breast of corn and green peas with avocado and grated cheese), fish sankocho ( ear with bananas and yucca) or banana soup with corn cobs? You do not like the soup? Enjoy a traditional dish ceviche of fish or seafood. But if you like to try something “extraordinary” in each country, then look Caldo de Manger .

And what the second? Let’s start with the meat dishes:

From drinks stronger than worth a try aguardiente (Firewater) or kanelaso, and even corn chicha (a big name is very familiar).

For dessert, but a huge variety of fruits (including the cherimoya, and pepinos, Granadilla) offers local yogoso ice cream (ice thick yogurt), sweet corn and humitas quite delicious cookies!

National dishes

You can read an entire book about the cuisine of Ecuador, but did not feel its taste, if you do not try at least a couple of dishes. To gain at least some idea and prepare a traditional ceviche and delicious cookies that do not need to bake!

Ecuadorian Shrimp Ceviche

A few words about the ceviche. To understand some of its variants will be served, just read the end of the name of this dish: ceviche de Pescado – fish, de Camarones – Shrimp, de Concha – clam, de Pulp – octopus ceviche mixed – all at once. We will try to prepare a ceviche of shrimp, which can apply lime slices and a basket of salty popcorn. In Ecuador, on the table would still put a plate and banana chips.

1 kg of small shrimp (rinse well!)
2 red onions
2 green bell pepper (cut into thin strips)
1 lemon
juice of 2 oranges and mandarins 4
1/3 cup finely sliced coriander
2 tablespoons olive oil
salt, pepper and ketchup to taste

Pour water shrimp in a deep pan, so that they only covered with water, add 1 tbsp salt and cook for 5-7 minutes. Shrimp remove from the pan, drain the liquid and allow to cool. Stir in the chopped coriander, peppers and onions, then stir with ostyvshimi peeled shrimp. Stir in broth, fruit juice and olive oil, add salt and pepper and pour over shrimp. Cover with cling film and place in refrigerator for at least half an hour, but not more than 2 hours. Serve portions in bowls. Serve with ketchup, popcorn and banana chips.

1 can of condensed milk
2 cups ground almonds,
2 cups grated walnuts
1/3 cup sweetened shredded coconut
3 tablespoons Roma
1 1/2 tablespoons orange peel
1 cup brown sugar
toasted almonds for decoration

Mix all ingredients except almonds grains. To sustain the mixture in the fridge for half an hour and molded balls (take 1 tablespoon mixture for each). Place each ball in cornets for cupcakes and decorate with toasted almonds.
